Opportunities for Undergraduate Students
Our lab welcomes any Penn State student interested in developing research experiences. We offer various opportunities that include:
- Preparing charcoal and bone samples for radiocarbon dating and stable isotope analyses
- Identifying archaeological faunal and plant remains
- Processing geospatial and archival data
- Participating in fieldwork projects abroad
- And many more!
Students working in the lab can gain volunteer time or independent research credits. Involvement in specific projects can lead to work for a B.A. or M.A. thesis or research publication. Our lab offers hands-on, direct training and personal mentoring in the field of environmental archaeology. The best way to get involved is to contact Dr. Capriles directly. We look forward to hearing from you!
Opportunities for Graduate Students and Postdocs
If you are interested in joining our lab as an Integrated Undergraduate Graduate (IUG), doctorate graduate (Ph.D.) student or postdoctoral scholar, please read through some of our publications and get in touch. We are always interested in recruiting talented and eager scholars who are as excited about research as we are. We are happy to have a conversation and explore potential synergy.
Specific information about application to the Department of Anthropology is available on their How to Apply page.
